What Is Guided Reading?

Guided Reading Framework:

1)    Students Reread familiar books to develop fluency, while the teacher takes a Running Record  on one child

2)    Fluent Write ~ Students write one or two high frequency words quickly (optional)

3)    Teacher Introduces New text

4)    Students read new text as teacher Observes AND takes notes

5)    Teacher Teaches for word solving and or comprehension strategies

6)    Students Discuss the meaning of the text through conversation

7)    Students participate in Extensions and/or Word Work if needed (optional)
